[ this voice is the voice of a man who fails as an educator. of course, luke has no idea why mako's calling him, or why he sounds so serious — hera's sake, did he end up grating this guy's ass when he'd answered his little how-to-explode-girls 101 video? ]

[ despite his own tiny little slip of anxiety and his own preparation for being on the receiving end of a lecture, there's laughter evident in luke's voice. ] Hey Macklemore, what can I do you for?

I can definitely tell you long walks on the beach and moonlight dinners are a no-go for wooing her. [ it's clear he's not taking this seriously at all. how much does he know about clarisse? too much and not enough, simultaneously. ]

[ does he want to talk about clarisse? no. does he want to know why mako's suddenly asking? yes. it's so difficult being luke castellan, he's torn between caring and not caring, being protective and not giving a shit at all. ]

[ mako sighs, sensing the reluctance in his own way. at least talking to luke is easier than talking to thranduil, or the other elves. they're all... weird. ]

Last month she antagonized a bunch of elves with an over glorified rock, and they're coming to wreck shit, and I want to know exactly why. Plus, she needs to either be talked into chucking the rock at his head sometime soon, or leaving with it so it doesn't needlessly put people who don't want to fight over a stupid rock in danger.

[ can mako hear that exasperated inhale? because luke's exasperatedly inhaling. when he speaks, his voice is sober, lacking its mirth and his smartassery. ] That ... sounds like Clarisse. [ being a dick for no reason other than it being written in her genetic code. luke almost sounds disappointed, as though he expected better of a girl he knows like the back of his own hand when it comes to her hot buttons and the way she operates. ]

[ he's usually the one being antagonised by her ... after he antagonises her. it's all semantics there, really. ] She's the daughter of war. Instigating shit like this is in her blood. [ that's the reason. it feels like a poor answer, like someone asking him why the sky's blue and he simply responds with a it just is. ] You won't succeed in talking her down — you'll only manage to antagonise her even further.

[ his face scrunches up, tone shifting into something a little lighter. ] Sense and logic don't quite sit well with Ares' kids.

[ mako barely understands the demigod schtick as it is, and when an explanation like that is given... sometimes, it's better to just work at a solution, and then worry about why things happen the way they do later. ]

You didn't hear me when I said Ares kids are as dense as they are stubborn, huh? [ no matter what luke says, clarisse will never hear reason. she'll take it as though she's being doubted, going further to be louder and bolder and stupider toward whoever it is that owns this silmaril. ]

[ luke can read between the lines just fine, and he doesn't like what he spies written in ancient greek. he ignores it for now, not liking the implication he's going to be asked to get in further shit with a girl he doesn't particularly want chasing after him again. ] She has four dogs with her at all times.
